Remembering David Bernstein: composer, connector, visionary

I miss David already. He was always there as a kind of rock, a beacon in Cascadia. He was solid as both a member of the organization and as a composer. David’s compositions really had a signature in style. I resonated with and respected his music (and not only because I also love Beethoven’s pacing and Mahler’s emotion). I was fortunate to travel with him and a handful of other Cascadia Composers to Cuba in 2016. He had a blast of a trip. (I love that yellow cut off tee shirt he got there!) David left us too soon and suddenly but I am grateful to have been a small part of his musical world these last fifteen years.
